TailSlot Alerts, sent by TailSlot (tailslot.com) on behalf of the flight school or flying club you fly with.
What messages you'll get
TailSlot Alerts are operational messages about your flying. Depending on the alert types you choose, they include:
- Booking reminders and changes to your bookings,
- Squawk and grounding alerts for aircraft you're booked on,
- Weather and TFR warnings for your departure and destination,
- Standby offers when a slot you're waiting for opens up,
- Key codes for aircraft key boxes or hangar access, and
- Overdue checks when an aircraft you're flying hasn't been checked in on time.
We don't send marketing or promotional texts through TailSlot Alerts.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies with how often you fly and which alerts you choose.
Cost
Message and data rates may apply. TailSlot doesn't charge for text messages. Your mobile carrier's normal rates apply.
How you opt in
You opt in yourself, in the TailSlot app, under My profile → Text messages. You enter your US mobile number and tick a checkbox. The checkbox is unchecked by default. Next to it you see this consent text:
Yes, text me TailSlot Alerts about my bookings, aircraft squawks and groundings, weather and TFR warnings, standby offers and key codes. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Consent isn't required to use TailSlot.
Links to these SMS terms and to our Privacy Policy are shown with the checkbox. We record the date and time you opted in and the exact text you agreed to. School or club staff can't opt you in for you; only you can.
Consent is not a condition of purchase. You don't have to agree to text messages to use TailSlot or to fly with your school or club. You'll still get the same alerts by email.
How to opt out
Reply STOP to any TailSlot Alerts message at any time. You'll get one final message confirming that you've been unsubscribed, and no more texts after that. You can also turn text messages off in My profile → Text messages, or ask your school or club staff to turn them off for you. To start again, opt in again in the app.

Carriers
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your carrier and coverage. Don't rely on text messages alone for safety-of-flight information: always get an official weather and NOTAM briefing before you fly.
Your privacy
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except the service providers that deliver the messages for us. Eligibility
TailSlot Alerts are available only to US mobile numbers.
